MLC JAILED FOR "KIDNAPPING" BMC DUMPER

Jitendra Awhad, a Nationalist Conress Party MLC, surrendered before the Vikhroli police on Wednesday, after the BMC filed a complaint against him for "kidnapping" their garbage dumper. Awhad and his men, protesting against the stink from the Mulund dumping ground, had hijacked the garbage dumper on friday and emptied it outside the BMC headquarters on Friday night.
Meanwhile, as soon as news of Awhad's arrest spread, Thane city erupted into violance. His party workers went on a rampage and broke five Thane Municipal buses Tranport buses and one state transport bus. The men also forcefully shut down shops. Awhad was granted bail in the case, but he refused to accept it and was sent to Thane Central Jail. Awhad has his picture specially taken before his arrest, for posteres that his men plastered all over Thane.
