YOUTH.....PERCEPTION AND POLITICS

It’s about time to look at the Youth and their Perception of Politics.

During this period we have witnessed the worst and the best changes our country has been through. It has helped us to evolve as a stronger and progressive nation in the world.

But for our youth generation, politics as career comes way down the career option list. Politics is loosing its appeal amongst the youth of India.

REASONS….Many – Rampant corruption, criminalization of politics, apathy towards peoples needs, lack of accountability, etc…When there are so many options, then why dirty our hands in politics ??

It’s so easy for us to blame our government and our elected members whenever we see or feel that our representatives are not doing their job efficiently. But hey! Have we taken even a moment o halt and realize that over 50% of our people DOSEN’T take active participation in the political process of our country. So you see, we have absolutely no right to blame anyone else but ourselves. We all feel “system needs to be changed” but the fact is that WE DON’T want take responsibility on OUR shoulders! We have potential human resources who can change the scenarios, but instead, they choose to go to U.S and U.K for further studies and jobs and restrict their lives only to their “secured” jobs and settle there permanently.

PERCEPTION of today’s generation - NEGATIVE ! Though we have few young politicians, they have not been allowed to stretch their wings. The politicians need to open up and promote the younger generation in mainstream politics. It’s typically stereotype to think that only people with gray hair, can become successful politicians. In U.K Tony Blair retires at 58. But here, in India, chief posts are occupied mostly by politicians above 50 years. The younger generation has no outlet to show their principles of leadership. Ask Indian youths about their “views on politics” and you are sure to get a straight out answer – “Who wants to join politics?!”

But is turning away and maintaining distance from political class really any solution ??

There is absolutely no doubts that the changing dysfunctional behavior is “difficult” but definitely NOT “impossible”. If “WE” as a nation, have to move ahead and build the country of our dreams, we HAVE to use politics as the medium to ensure that our government remains sensitive and accountable to us citizens.!

Welcome back to square one – “WHO will take this country into the era of prosperity, economic growth, sustained development & all-around progress ??

It’s got to be “collective effort”. We have to work together with a common goal in mind. There is no doubt that we have come a long way, but the journey by no means is over! It’s really very important to make this growth sustainable. India has large productive and young population as her asset. It’s just that it’s time we realized it!

IF we truly believe that the future of “any and every” country lies in the hands of youth, then it’s time we take a step forward. Only youth can change the pace and width of the course of our nations progress and make India a global giant. IF we want to see a better India, IT’S TIME TO TAKE CHARGE !! We have to build a foundation NOW for a prosperous future. Unless youth feel concerned and get involved in politics at all stages, we can’t a nation to grow in the right direction.

REMEMBER……………………………….
It’s NOT good for a nation when it’s citizens “only complain” and expect someone else to fix their problems !!

So let us work together today for a better tomorrow !!
